TLS Canon Rangefinders Rehoused Vintage Prime Set

Our TLS Canon Rangefinders are rehoused vintage LPL-mount prime lenses.

Description

The Canon Rangefinders were first developed in the 1950s, before the K35s and FDs. Canon Rangefinders were truly groundbreaking lenses for their time. They’ve previously been unusable on modern cinema cameras because of the limitations of the PL mount. However with LPL they’ve been given new life as a large format compatible cine lenses. This set has been beautifully rehoused by TLS.

The centrepiece of the set is the 50mm f/0.95 (T1.1), one of the fastest lenses ever developed. The ‘dream lens’ as it has come to be known delivers a super shallow depth of field and surreal, painterly bokeh. All the lenses in the set feature single layer coatings. This creates a unique vintage look as well as big beautiful flares. They’re incredibly sharp in the centre with a pleasing falloff out to the edges. Stopping the lenses down slightly will sharpen things up across the board for a less dramatic but still flattering look.

The Rangefinders all have matte-finished 16 blade irises for rounded K35-like bokeh. Also matching gear positions and a 110mm front diameter. In addition, improved close focus and 36x24mm Full-Frame coverage. LPL will work with a variety of mounts and adapters to make these lenses usable across Alexa 35, LF, Red Raptor, Venice, C400 etc.

This is one of very few sets of these lenses in Australia.
