Description
The Canon EOS-R5 is a mirrorless camera for the professional image-maker. For example the camera features, high resolution, speed, and next generation video capabilities. Canon’s EOS R5 has a full-frame 45MP CMOS sensor. In addition, it offers 12 fps continuous shooting with mechanical shutter and 8K RAW video recording. Finally, the R5 is the first EOS camera to feature 5-axis sensor-shift image stabilisation.
A new generation of Dual Pixel CMOS Auto-Focus provides quick, smooth, and intelligent focusing performance. In addition, 1053 selectable points cover the entire field of view. The focusing system improves subject tracking as well as precise eye, face, and head-detection for both people and animals.
Complementing the imaging assets, the R5 has a high-resolution EVF with 120 fps refresh rate. In addition, the EOS-R5 incorporates dual memory card slots. This includes one CF-express Type B and one SD UHS-II. In addition, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi wireless connectivity is included.
45MP Full-Frame Sensor and DIGIC X Processor
Canon’s EOS-R5 is built around a new 45MP full-frame sensor. This enables both high-resolution stills and video. In addition, sensitivity ranges from ISO 100-51200, or expanded to ISO 102400.
8K 30p RAW and 4K 120p Video Recording
The 45MP sensor also enables high-resolution 8K DCI 30 fps RAW video recording internally. In addition 4K recording up to 120 fps in 4:2:2 10-bit with Canon Log. The HDMI port supports a clean 4K output at up to 60 fps. Both All-I and IPB compression options are available. Finally, Dual Pixel Autofocus is available when shooting at up to 8K raw.
Dual Pixel CMOS AF II
An updated Dual Pixel CMOS AF II features 1053 selectable focusing points. These points cover approximately 100% of the image frame for wide and even coverage. The result is smooth and fast focusing.
When shooting video, a Movie Servo AF mode offers smooth and natural focusing. This includes when changing from different subjects or different distances within the scene. Benefited by the Touch AF system, rack focus is possible simply by touching elements within the scene. This enables focus transitions in an intuitive manner. Subject tracking is able to recognise subjects and maintain focus when working within changing or cluttered scenery.
This technology also supports the more refined eye, face, and head detection functions. This works for both people and animals.
Sensor-Shift Image Stabiliser
A first for EOS cameras, the Canon EOS R5 incorporates five-axis sensor-shift image stabilisation. This results in compensation for up to eight stops.
Top status LCD
CF-express Type B and SD UHS-II memory card slots provide flexible storage needs; the CF-express slot is ideal for 8K video and high-speed, high-resolution burst shooting.
Both a 3.5mm headphone and a 3.5mm external microphone port provide audio monitoring and recording.
The durable, weather-sealed body design is built to handle tough working conditions and inclement weather.
Both 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi bands are available for fast file transfer. Bluetooth is also available to provide constant device connection via the Canon Camera Connect app.
