The ARRI Alexa Mini LF is built around a large-format version of the original ALEXA sensor. As a result, this enables native 4K recording in three sensor modes. For example, ARRIRAW or ProRes in Open Gate, LF 16:9, or LF 2.39:1.
The ARRI ALEXA Mini LF is a new large-format digital cinema camera. It combines high resolution with an optimal pixel size for outstanding image quality. As a result, the camera produces vivid, nuanced images with natural skin tones and smooth bokeh.
ARRI Alexa Mini LF – LPL Mount
Firstly, ARRI’s Mini LF uses the ARRI LPL lens mount. Secondly, the LPL mount is optimised for large-format capture. Finally, the LPL mount is compatible with all PL-mount lenses. This is due to the use of a separately available PL-to-LPL adapter. Finally, an optional EF mount is available.
ARRI’s LPL mount has a wider diameter and shorter flange focal depth than the original ARRI PL mount. This results in LPL-mount lenses being smaller and lighter than earlier large-format optics.
Large-format ARRI ALEV-III Sensor
The highly-regarded ALEV-III sensor forms the basis of the ARRI Alexa Mini LF. To clarify, the sensor combines high resolution with an optimal pixel size for excellent image quality. In contrast, the original ARRI Alexa Mini uses this sensor but in a Super-35 format. However the Alexa Mini LF uses a large-format version of the sensor.
Secondly, several recording formats are available. For example, 4448 x 3096 Open Gate, 3840 x 2160 16:9, and 4448 x 1856 2.39:1 anamorphic.
